Epson L6160 Printer Review

When it comes to printer devices, one of the biggest names in the business is Epson. After successfully dominating the printer market for years, Epson has come to a stage where it is very little they can get wrong. They have been making and selling printers for all brackets of customers and every single device has been synonymous with rugged build, superb quality and longevity in a class of its own.

Today, we are going to take a look at a printer from Epson that seeks to keep their reign at the top last a little longer. Christened, the L6160, this is a WiFi Duplex All-in-One printer from Epson that runs on the ink tank technology.

For those of you who may not be aware, ink tank printers make use of high capacity ink tanks instead of traditional cartridges, thereby drastically increasing the longevity of the printer.

Thanks to the integrated high-capacity ink tanks, ink is supplied continuously to the printer. There are no cartridges to replace; you simply top up the tanks with Epson ink bottles and keep on printing.

Design –

When it comes to printer design, its important that the device has as small a footprint as possible and the Epson L6160 accomplishes that down to the T. Featuring ink tanks that are integrated within the packaging, the L6160 features the smallest footprint among all the printers in its category, which in itself is a major selling point.

What we have in effect, is a standard rounded box design with a 2.4 inch LCD operation interface on the front and ink tank level indicators which indicate exactly how much ink is left in each tank. Another little feature of the L6160 is that each ink tank features a uniquely designed nozzle which only fits into that particular colour tank. This ensures clean and spill-free refilling.

Performance –

Coming to the performance, the L6160 features WiFi connectivity and can also accommodate 4 devices at a time even without a router. It comes loaded with Ethernet as well, making the printer easy to share among your workgroup for proper sharing of resources.

The L6160 comes with Epson’s trademark PrecisionCore technology, which allows the printer to achieve draft printing speeds of upto 33ppm and upto 15ipm for standard prints.

The device also supports automatic duplex printing up to 6.5ipm making it a front-runner when it comes to saving on paper costs.

Along with the printing, the L6160 also allows the user to scan documents, which is pretty much standard in most printers today. What we have on hand is a standard flatbed scanner with a CIS sensor that allows you to scan documents at high speeds without losing out on quality. On paper, the L6160 can scan in black and white (200 dpi in 12 seconds) and colour (200 dpi in 27 seconds).

Finally, coming to the OS compatibility, the Epson L6160 printer supports the following Computer Operating Systems –

Windows XP / XP Professional x 64 Edition / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10
Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2012 / 2016
Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later

All in all, the Epson L6160 is a compelling choice for those looking for a compact All-in-One Printer which not only lasts long, but also occupies minimal space in your office or home.

Epson has been getting right all these years, and the streak continues with the L6160 Printer.
