How to Disable the Firewall on Windows 10

In this article, we will take a look at how you can disable the Firewall on your Windows 10 PC/Laptop. Please use this tutorial as a learning experience. Disabling your Firewall can leave your Windows 10 PC/Laptop vulnerable to outside attacks, viruses, malware, etc.

Disabling the Windows Firewall

With that disclaimer out of the way, let’s get started –

  1. The first step here is to open the Windows Firewall Settings. To do this, tap on the Windows key on your keyboard, and search for Windows Defender Firewall.
  2. Now, from the Control Panel Home, search for ‘Turn Windows Defender On or Off’. Click on it and you will now get the Firewall Toggle settings.

  3. Under the Settings, check the circle next to the option ‘Turn Off Windows Firewall’.
  4. When you’re finished, click the OK button. Again, if you are doing this, be very careful. This tutorial is a way to understand how this is done. We would not recommend you turn off your Firewall.

Your Windows 10 Firewall will now be disabled.

Enabling the Windows Firewall

If you now want to Enable your Windows 10 Firewall again, this is what you must do –

  1. Just like the previous block, navigate to the Control Panel Home.
  2. Now, from the Control Panel Home, search for ‘Turn Windows Defender On or Off’. Click on it and you will now get the Firewall Toggle settings.

  3. Under the Settings window, click the circle(s) next to Turn on Windows Defender Firewall for public networks, private networks, or both.
  4. When you’re finished, click the OK button. This will re-enable your Windows 10 Firewall.
